The 4-Day Nyungwe Chimpanzee & Canopy Walk Safari is a rainforest-focused journey through Nyungwe National Park, combining chimpanzee tracking with the famous canopy walkway, tea-country scenery, and the extraordinary biodiversity of one of Africa’s oldest rainforests. It’s a wonderful trip for primate and nature lovers seeking something beyond the savannah.
You’ll travel in a private 4×4 safari vehicle with a professional English-speaking driver-guide, staying three nights in comfortable accommodation near the forest. The chimpanzee tracking and canopy walkway activities are included, along with park fees, so the headline experiences are fully covered.
Nyungwe is a vast, ancient montane rainforest teeming with life. Track habituated chimpanzees through the forest, walk the thrilling canopy walkway suspended high above the treetops, and look out for colobus monkeys, dazzling birdlife, and lush tea plantations along the way. The scenery and biodiversity here are simply spectacular. See our chimpanzee tracking guide and Rwanda safari guide for more.
As a specialist Africa tour operator, we handle every detail — the chimpanzee and canopy activities, park fees, your private vehicle, expert guide, quality lodging, and transfers — so you can immerse yourself in the rainforest. Nyungwe combines beautifully with gorilla trekking for a complete Rwanda primate safari. Contact us to book.
Please note that chimpanzee tracking has a minimum age of 15 years, as set by the Rwanda Development Board. Younger children may join the lodge stay and some activities but cannot take part in the chimpanzee trek itself.
